Middle eastern cultures and traditions
Apart from Tara wedding’s evident expertise in western culture and weddings, our passion for capturing the true form of love transcends any single culture. What truly sets us apart from the rest is that throughout the years of experience covering weddings, our team attained an extensive knowledge of traditions originating from the Far East to middle eastern and African cultures. Each member of the Tara Weddings team has been exposed to the said cultures time and time again.
Consequently, we have become accustomed to the various cultural cues, and boundaries, which allows us to capture raw emotions beautifully with the utmost respect to the event and its participants. We believe that it is imperative to preserve genuine emotion in your wedding photos, and this is only possible by being highly aware of what is going on around us, and diligently be looking for the right moments to capture.
We have a thorough understanding of Arabic Muslim marital practices like the reading of a Surah from the Quran during the wedding or “Nikah”, followed by covering the “Khutba” (engagement) party, henna party, and finally the “Zaffe, where the “Dabkeh” dance is performed by the groom and his men upon the bride and groom’s entry into the reception in some instances, and then rounding off the event with the ululation by the women present in the reception to commemorate the wedding.
The Tara weddings team is equally aware about christian Arab weddings as well. We have full knowledge of the practices prior to the big day. The engagement party after the “Tulba”, followed by the “Radwa” at the bride’s house shortly before the wedding where the women from both sides of the families carry out the henna tradition as well. Not to mention the “Sahra”, a smaller profile party a day or two before the actual wedding day. On the big day itself, we accompany the bride and groom from the break of dawn till midnight. Interestingly enough, we also have experience many “Ferdahs”, a family only exclusive event held at the bride’s house.
